Questions? We Have Answers!

What is Life Support Ministry?

Life Support Ministry is....
  • A safe place to share your own issues
  • A refuge
  • A place of belonging
  • A place to care for others and be cared for
  • Where respect is given to each participant
  • Where confidentiality is highly regarded
  • A place to learn
  • A place to grow and become strong again
  • A place for healthy challenges and healthy risks
  • A possible turning point in your life

What is it NOT?

Life Support Ministry is NOT....
  • A place for selfish control
  • Therapy
  • Professional counseling
  • A place for secrets
  • A place to rescue or be rescued by others
  • A place for perfection
  • A long-term commitment
  • A place for gossip
  • A place to judge others
  • A quick fix

What is the difference between AA and Life Support Ministry?

The principal difference between AA (and other 12-Step programs) and Life Support Ministry (LSM) is that LSM focuses on Jesus Christ as the true Higher Power. It uses God's Word as the authority in relation to the 12-Steps and their biblical comparisons, which are based on Jesus Christ's teachings known as The Beatitudes, given in The Sermon on the Mount found in Matthew, Chapter 5.

What books will be used?

We will be using a curriculum called "Celebrate Recovery", which uses the "Twelve Steps and their Biblical Comparisons" tied with the "8 Principles to the Road to Recovery", as well as the Holy Bible. There will be free handouts weekly to utilize in the groups. Workbooks are available for purchase, but are not required. They can be purchased for your personal study for those who want to dig deeper.

Is Life Support Ministry confidential?

YES. Life Support Ministry maintains strict anonymity and confidentiality, unless someone threatens to hurt themselves or others. This promotes an atmosphere of trust, enables recovery, and facilitates growth and healing. There are guidelines we follow to protect all of us. It is a safe place where you can be real and honest without fear. You are 100% in control of when and how much you share. When you are at LSM, WHO you see here, WHAT you hear here, STAYS HERE!

Do I have to be a member of North Shore Bible Church or be a Christian to attend?

NO. Life Support Ministry is for anyone struggling with life controlling issues. All are welcomed. Just know that this is a Christ-centered recovery program. We believe He is the Higher Power and offers a way to be set free from your hurts, habits, and hang-ups. He will meet you where you're at. Take the first step. You will be welcomed by our loving community of believers.

Does it cost anything to attend?

No. There is no fee to attend or to be a participant.
